We know that students have busy schedules and many demands on their time, so we make sure our interns are set up for success. We take care of scheduling around classes or other commitments so that you can get the most out of your time here.
The World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) is a nonpartisan nonprofit membership organization dedicated to engaging the public and leading global voices to better understand the world, the United States’ international role, and the policy choices that impact our daily lives and our future. Based in Washington, DC, WACA supports more than 90 World Affairs Council affiliates across the United States and promotes their programs and educational initiatives for diverse, multigenerational audiences. We bring the world to classrooms and C-suites, to conferences in the nation’s capital and town hall-style forums in communities across the country.
Location: WACA’s offices are located at 1010 Vermont Avenue in downtown Washington, DC. Internships for summer 2023 will be primarily in-person, with some flexibility for remote work on a consistent schedule.
Time commitment: 10-15 hours per week (fall and spring internships) with a consistent schedule to be identified with the student; 15-20 hours per week (summer internships), due to the shorter duration of summer internships.
Compensation: Our internships are unpaid positions; however, we are happy to work with your school to help you receive academic credit for your internship.
Please Note: The World Affairs Councils of America is a nonprofit organization located in Washington, DC, that works to support Councils across the nation. Intern applicants should be located in the greater Washington, DC, area for the duration of the internship.
Qualifications
Undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student whose area of study is relevant to the internship desired, recent graduates are welcome to apply
Strong written & communication skills in English
Professional demeanor
Time & project management experience

Self-starter ability
Located in the greater Washington, DC area for the duration of the internship
