he Mission of the World Affairs Council of South Texas is to: empower citizens to participate in the national debate on world affairs and to help expand their opportunities for international travel and citizen diplomacy, build citizen support for American engagement in the world, stimulate communities to interact effectively in the global economy and help citizens understand how social and technological developments are shaping the future and to help citizens understand the impact of trade on community life and foster economic ties between our region and key regions of the world. The Council aims to relate local concerns to global issues, help educators and parents better understand the globalizing world and how that affects the educational needs of our youth, and promote interest among youth for careers in Foreign Service.
