The WACA National Office partners with think tanks, foundations, NGOs, corporations, and occasionally government agencies to arrange timely "national conversations" at several World Affairs Councils across the country on critical international topics.
Presented by Carnegie Corporation
From the Cuban Missile Crisis to Iran: Confronting the Nuclear Threat was funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The grant was part of its broader Nuclear Security initiative under their International Peace and Security Program.
Drawing from the World Affairs Councils of America's Six Top Issues, the series focused on the lessons of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the history of the prior 50 years of arms control and proliferation.
Top nuclear security experts covered the broad range of issues and multifaceted challenges presented by nuclear weapons and addressed some of the most pressing issues before the international community today. The keynote speakers for the Council events were leading experts from various institutions. 16 Councils across the country participated in the program.
