The Premier Gathering of America’s Largest Global Affairs Network

Each year, now for nearly four decades, the WACA National Conference brings together Council leaders, members, diplomats, journalists, educators, business executives, students, and foreign policy experts to explore the global issues and policy choices that impact our lives.

About the WACA National Conference

The National Conference brings together members of the World Affairs Councils network, the public, and leaders in international affairs for shared learning, collaboration, and dialogue on America’s role in the world.

The conference serves two complementary purposes. First, it convenes the national network, where Councils exchange ideas, engage with experts, and strengthen the systems and practices that support public engagement with global issues in communities across the United States. Second, it serves as a broader gathering of Council leaders and staff, local and national board members, members and donors of local Councils, 1918 Society supporters, and students and emerging leaders, creating space across generations and disciplines to reflect on global challenges and the choices that shape them. Together, they represent a national network working through local Councils to strengthen public understanding of global issues across the United States.

Across plenary sessions, breakout discussions, and network gatherings, participants will:

  • Engage with leading voices in global affairs, diplomacy, and policy
  • Exchange ideas and best practices across 90 local Councils
  • Participate in Council leadership and network strategy discussions
  • Explore how global issues shape local community engagement
  • Strengthen collaboration across the national network
