Council Resources

Roundtables and Council Huddles
Problem solve and collaborate virtually with colleagues during quarterly roundtables and Council huddles. The roundtables, made up of eight groups dedicated to different facets of Council work. are facilitated by Council leaders. Huddles, which address network-wide and global issues of concern, are facilitated by the national office.

Engage America
The WACA National Office partners with think tanks, foundations, NGOs, corporations, and occasionally government entities to arrange timely “national conversations” at several World Affairs Councils across the country on critical international topics. We hope your Council will consider applying for these competitive but rewarding grant opportunities.

National Conference & Leadership Day
This annual event in Washington, DC, inspires Councils from 90 communities to sustain the conversation on critical global issues and contribute to a stronger network and informed American public. On top of sessions featuring government officials, journalists, and diplomats, Councils are also invited to attend leadership day, a full day of professional development sessions and networking opportunities.

Publication Discounts
Each year, WACA negotiates subscription discounts with various publications for the Council network. This benefit is unique to WACA and serves as a reminder of the value of the national network.

Council Network Calendar
Councils are invited to add their events to this useful tool so that the network can see potential speakers and learn more about the wide range of programing held across the nation. The Council network calendar is also one of the primary way events are promoted to the general public.

Council Leadership Meeting
The Council Leadership Meeting, also called the Spring Leadership Meeting, is a unique annual opportunity for all Council staff and board members to come together to build the WACA community, highlight best practices, problem-solve shared challenges, and plan future opportunities as a network.

Council board and staff are invited to create an account through your Council to be the first to hear about upcoming network programming, unique opportunities from WACA partners, and more. To signup for the newsletter, create an account through our self service portal.

Request a Visit from the National Office
WACA staff members are eager to meet with Councils. Whether it’s an event, strategy session, or board meeting, WACA staff would love to join when available.
